We love long blog post.
Sometimes, I write an article of 10,000 words. I even write guides that are over 20,000 words in length!
As I learned from the years of blogging, long post blog posts are one of the best ways to keep your site separate from everyone else.
Of course, your content not only needs to be long but it also has to be deeper.
If you can nail it, you will get a ton of traffic and get thousands of followers.
A lot of people think that the thread is simple.
Step 1: Write a really long article.
Step 2: Get thousands of followers.
But Hey! Long blog post isn’t enough on its own.
Yes, the formula is simple, but it does not work just because you have a long article.
I have seen that many people write super long, in-depth articles, but they are not getting the kind of traffic they want.
That’s because they are not thinking about some of the basic elements of SEO – things that you need for long post-blog posts.
If you have long-term content, then it’s great. But if you want content to be effective, you need to do SEO keeping it in mind.
Believe me, I know that it can be difficult. You are already making great efforts in content, and it is difficult to remember all the SEO involved.
So I compiled this list to help you. These are 27 SEO Necessity for every long blog post.
They will help improve your content rank, gain greater visibility, and drive traffic to your site.
For all, using these steps is not difficult. If you do not know anything about SEO, you can still use every one of these suggestions.
1. Keyword Research
Take the time to find the best focus keywords for your post. Make sure this is specific to your topic, and consider going for a low competition keyword.
Both Google Keyword Planner and SEMrush are great for this. Here’s how you can use Keyword Planner.
2. Use long-tail keywords
Everyone knows that an article should contain a focus keyword.
But enough sites are not using long-tail keywords.
Long-tail keywords are – you’ve guessed – long keywords that are super special. They are often easy to rank, and they bring targeted traffic to you.
3. Create the perfect h1 tag
In most cases, your title (or h1) tag is going to be the first thing when someone starts reading your blog post.
For blog posts, h1 is the title of your blog post.

The correct h1 tag can make a cat of a difference.
I do not believe? When I changed the h1 of one of my articles, I found 85% more organic traffic in just 3 days.
Now I know what you are thinking. If the h1 tag is the title of the post only, then is not it more important to write the actual title?
This is a very common idea. But focusing on the h1 tag is really more important.
That’s because your h1 tag will help search engines better recognize and index your content so that human users can easily find your content.
Your h1 tag should have the following:
- Include a long tail keyword
- Being short (20-70 characters)
- Give the user clear information about the article
4. Use helpful subheadings
Before I go ahead, I need to say something.
Do not go crazy with your subheadings!
If the search engines see your focus keyword reflexed everywhere available, they will classify it as keyword stuffing.
Instead, your subheading should help readers navigate content.
Use subheading to break your article into chapters that are easy to understand.
5. Implement schema markup
Schema markup is a type of code that helps search engines analyze your content.
In particular, it breaks up every part of your content and tells search engines what those parts mean.
For example, if you use schema markup on your title, then the search engine will know your title.
There is even a free tool that you can easily use.
6. Share your content with influencers to get backlinks
If you can attract the attention of influencers, you can get a good backlink from them, which, in return, will run a ton of traffic on your site.
The most important part is getting your pitch right. You can not push too much, but you want to keep your foot on the door.
Here’s a template you can use for this:
The aim is to get backlinks, whether it is a part of social media network or a link in a blog post.
But do not come out and ask for a backlink. If the affected person likes your content, then he will give you the backlink you want.
7. Optimize your URL
Shorter and cleaner URLs provide a better user experience and also help search engines. You also want to make sure that your URL contains your keyword (focus or long-tail).
8. Include outbound links
One of the simplest ways to increase your post’s SEO: Outbound links. If your subject is more deep, then you can use more links, but do it wisely. Do not go crazy and include a link in every paragraph.
9. Include internal links
Internal links are just as important as outbound links. You can be surprised to hear one of the most overlooked parts of the page SEO.
Again, do not overdo it. You should link to your own site as you link to other sites.
A goal for approximately 2-4 internal links in each post.
10. Use LSI keywords
Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is a fancy word, but it only refers to keywords that are similar to your focus keywords.
For example, if your focus is the keyword “car stereo system”, then some LSI keywords will be “car stereo speakers” and “best car speakers”.
Remember in point #1 when I mentioned Google’s “related to searches” section? Those keywords are often both long tail and LSI.
11. Get the title tag right
Title tags are incredibly important. Why? If they find you on a search engine, they will often see the first thing.
A title tag is just the title of each result in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).
Even though this photo labels title tags as the title of the page, title tags will often be different from your actual page or blog post title.
You need to make sure that your title tag describes a profit and your focus is on the keyword.
12. Create an SEO-friendly meta description
Together with the title tag, the meta description helps your page stand out in the SERPs.
A customized meta description should be:
- Small, about 135-160 characters
- Include Focus Keywords
- Be clear and descriptive
- Stay true and convince the reader to check the page
This tells you what the article is about in plain language. That’s exactly what your meta description should do.
13. Make it mobile friendly
Blog post about using responsive design is not mobile-friendly. This is a good start, but it is not enough.
You also have to think how your article will appear on mobile itself.
First, make sure your content uses short sentences and paragraphs. (Not intended for paragraphs of more than 3-4 sentences.)
14. Analyze your site speed
This means that the speed of your site is very fast. If it is not, then you may lose some serious traffic.
Simplifying your design, reducing server response time, and enabling compression are all good ways to speed up your site. Once you’ve done the work, test your site speed.
15. Optimize body text for your keyword
Of course, you can not forget to include your focus keywords in the body of your article. Do not use it every chance you get, and be sure to mix it in your long tail and LSI keywords.
I usually use my focus keyword at the beginning and end of the posts. I usually use it even at least one H2 subheading.
16. Use your focus keywords in first 100 words
Your keyword should first appear in 100-150 words. This will help Google to crawl your content and understand that your focus keyword is important.
17. Think about keyword frequency
The keyword frequency is the number of times that you see in your content.
There are many different opinions on keyword frequency. You should use your keyword in blog post 2-3 times. Other SEOs will think differently.
Here’s what I recommend:
For Long Blog Post, use your keywords approximately 4-6 times. But also use your long-tailed keyword and LSI keywords. You can use all these paragraphs.
But if it sounds awkward, then do not force it. When there is a doubt, read it aloud and ask yourself if it seems natural.
18. Consider user intent
The intention of the user is what makes the keyword effective. If you know about different types of user intentions, then you can better optimize your keywords for that effect.
The user intentions are of three types –
- If a user has a navigational intention, then he is trying to visit a certain site or page.
- If a user has an informative intent, then he is looking for information.
- If a user has a transaction intention, then he wants to buy something.
19. Include LSI keywords in your h2 subheadings
This is a simple way to increase your SEO by making a small change.
Then, if it seems compulsive, do not do that. Use your h2 subheading to break the content. If you can use LSI keywords naturally, do so.
20. Make social buttons easy to find
Social share = free link. Make the most of this opportunity, using the highly visible social sharing button.
21. Increase your chances of getting a featured snippet
The snippet displayed exclusively is one of the best places on Google’s 1st Page.
Featured snippets are simple boxes that show you a preview of the content and often answer a question.
22. Don’t overuse anchor text
If you prefer to use exact matching anchor text, be careful. Google now looks out for it and will often penalize those sites that use it.
23. Syndicate your content
Most people do not syndicate their content because they are concerned about duplicate content.
Thankfully, you can syndicate content safely without penalizing. Syndicate not every single post you publish, but the syndicated post that you feel will be of interest to some viewers.
There are two great places to go for medium and linked syndication.
24. Use title modifiers
By adding an additional word to your title, you can get more traffic and at the same time give you an organic long-tail / LSI keyword.
Words like “best” or “easy” are often searched, so it makes sense to add them to your title.
25. Use different titles for your title tag and h1
Your title tag and h1 should not be the same Your focus should be in both keywords, but you can use long-tail keywords or phrase match keywords for one or the other.
This is a great way to rank better for naturally long-tailing keywords.
26. Make sure your content is Long blog post
When I say long blog post content, I’m talking about 2,000+ words.
However, I recommend writing posts with 3,000+ words on a regular basis.
Obviously, only the length does not always guarantee great ranking, which brings me to the last point.
27. Make sure your content deep
Your content needs to be wider. It can not just address a ton of surface problems. Focus on some important points and go into extreme detail.

There should be no headache for SEO I know that there may be a lot to keep track of this and I hope this list helps.
Keep in mind that this is not a comprehensive list of all the things that you need to do great SEO. When you write and edit your blog posts, this is just an easy checklist.
As I say all the time, SEO is a long-term strategy. Do not expect super quick wins with SEO. (They are, but you should focus on long term.)
This list will start you, but I advise you to see more in optimizing your content for SEO.
After a few posts, you are doing a lot without thinking about it, and you will see the results because your page gets better ranking and more traffic.
